Platform Beds

Fashion has changed so much in the last 100 years. Beds' Still locked in the dimly lit Victorian era. Even in this modern world, color options are still few and far between: dark wood, light wood, black lacquer, cherry. What are all the fashion-forward folks supposed to do' Live with these various shades of ho-hum' We think not. We think the bedrooms can be a little more colorful than they are. If there is a fashion statement in the world, our Red Bed is it. There's absolutely nothing blase about this bed. It's brash and it's red.

A well-designed master suite demands an equally well-designed bed. So many jaw-dropping masters are compromised by a garish ode to turned wood, with their soaring four-posted spires. So distracting. The mattresses rise so high that you need a small stepladder to climb aboard. The Modernist approach is so much more pleasing to the eye. Take our beautiful, clean Japanese style platform queen Bed, for example. The headboard is a solid veneer oak that is a great contrast to the colors of your walls. At the foot, a playful take on the traditional footboard, with an echo of chrome inlaid to direct the eye up and back.

With its fresh take on the fabulous tufted upholstery of the 50's, this modern work of art is both brash and beautiful. The larger than life headboard is balanced with a neatly scaled bed frame. The resulting look is neat and stylish, without being overly designed.

The seemingly seamless design of this wonderful bed frame will instantly appeal to the purists of Modernism. After all, the purpose of a frame is to support the mattress, not consume a room with self-congratulating ornamentation. The base of this wonderful bed frame flows gracefully from the floor to the headboard, offering the mattress the stout support traditional bedrails can only dream of.

A lot of designers forget that the main purpose of a bed is to promote a comfortable, restful sleep. Well, we've never forgotten. This wonderful frame nestles your top-of-the-line mattress in a strikingly crisp, clean package. The low slung headboard transitions perfectly to the frame itself, which seems to hover above the floor. As you slowly slip off to sleep, you'll feel as if you're floating on thin air.

Being an ardent fan of Minimalism doesn't mean you have to settle for garish blue bed frames forged from cheap pig iron. No sir! Witness our fine short post king-sized bed above. Its clean lines and bold form are such that you won't want to ever hide them with a 'bed in a bag' poly-cotton dust ruffle. Instead, you'll revel in showing off the finely crafted light oak wood base, supported by four trusty posts. Nothing but space below. A cozy, soft king-sized mattress above. A white leather headboard provides contrast to the frame and lets your bed not only stand out from a wall, but standout in any decor.

The only problem when deciding on the Modern décor for your bedroom is what kind of headboard you want to have. This lovely piece is an echo from the past, offering you a classic sleigh bed experience in a contemporary and classic Euro-style bed. The crisp clean frame creates a seamless platform for the headboard, which arches gently and gracefully from behind the mattress.

Today's master bedrooms aren't just for sleeping anymore. They are retreats; places where you can relax and escape to complete comfort and security. Our bewitching king size-platform bed beckons you to laze the day away in delightful repose. Read an engrossing novel, watch that sentimental tear-jerker for the fourth time this week or share your inner most secrets with the one you love most (sorry, pet not included). That's OK. Our platform bed-king size is there for you. Featuring a rich, black finish the base appears to hover above the floor. Go ahead! Get comfortable. It's ready any time you are.

One of the great things about Modernist bedrooms is that the furnishings are designed to compliment the space. There's no point in having a stunning view from your bedroom window when visitors only stare at the gigantic wood structure you call a bed. This sleek charmer doesn't take anything away from your bedroom – it only adds to it.

No, it's not an optical illusion, but it could be. The headboard of this sumptuous bedframe is playful yet stylish. The wood alternately curves inward then outward to create visual interest that complements the austerity of the main frame below. The result is a bed that is unusual, striking and timeless.
